North Beach Oceanside Park – Miami Beach, FL
SAFEbuilt’s award-winning team of professionals stepped in to fulfill a wish on behalf of the City of Miami Beach – to re-construct a park that would generate a new identity for the North Beach community by tapping into and revealing established values and qualities present in the site.
Goal
Our goal was to transform the densely vegetated 30-acre park into a place where the community would never feel secluded or inactive but connected and engaged.

The biggest challenges that the City of Miami Beach face when it comes to community development is the aging infrastructure, limited public transportation, and climate health. SAFEbuilt decided to re-create this park in a way that would respond to these issues while maintaining the character of North Beach.
This was done by designing a necklace of ‘pods’ that operate as a spine to the project and serve to protect habitat and more. The walkways were created by strengthening the dune, utilizing passive green infrastructure and LID stormwater management strategies to encourage various activities while being able to withstand natural challenges. The project also included giving the city’s beachfront area a fresh look, with a walkway at ground level that would be an important part of the city’s transportation system.
