At SAFEbuilt (“SAFEbuilt”, “We” or “Us”), your privacy is important to us.  We respect your privacy and take reasonable measures to protect it. This Privacy Policy applies to the SAFEbuilt website (www.safebuilt.com) and our family of websites, including: CommunityCore Solutions (www.communitycore.com), Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (www.cgasolutions.com) GovEasy (www.gov-easy.com), MTCI Private Provider Services (www.mtciprivateprovider.com), M.T.   • CommunityCore Solutions (communitycore.com) is an online software and portal solution that enables Clients to manage and track construction projects, obtain permits and licenses, pay fees and review and approve construction plans.
  • GovEasy (gov-easy.com) is an online portal or standalone software tool for municipalities and private companies to collaborate on the tracking and reporting on building permits, code enforcement, and to enable remote payment of government fees.
  • MTCI Private Provider Services (mtciprivateprovider.com) provides engineering consulting services, plan review and inspection services for municipalities and local governments which is integrated into the GovEasy software and portal.
  • Calvin, Giordano & Associates (cgasolutions.com) provides microsites for municipalities to distribute project updates and general communication to registered subscribers.
  • M.T. Causley (mtcinspectors.com) provides engineering consulting services, plan review and inspection services for municipalities and local governments.

  • Pennsylvania Municipal Code Alliance, Inc. (pacodealliance.com) offers full service municipal code and building inspection services to municipalities, public agencies and private providers.
  • Community Development Leader Awards (www.cdlawards.com) is a dedicated microsite open to the general public to nominate public civil servants and city officials to the annual Community Development Leader Awards.

This Sites are structured so that, in general, you can visit without revealing any personal information. However, to access some services requires that you register and open an account with Us, including providing certain personal information. If you choose to provide us with personal information, you may be assured that it will only be used in accordance with the principles set forth in this document.

By accessing or using the Sites, you agree and consent to our use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into our Terms of Use Terms of Use – SAFEbuilt.  If you do not agree to any of the terms and conditions in this policy, you should not access the Sites or use any of the services.

WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Personal Information Collected Automatically.  We collect certain data when you visit most pages on the Sites. Your visit may automatically provide us with data about your computer, such as your IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type, operating system, domain name, access times, and any referring web site addresses.  As further described below, some parts of the Sites may use embedded cookies or other technologies to track and facilitate your use of the Sites. We also automatically collect certain personal information from emails we receive from clients and others.

Personal Information You Provide Voluntarily.  On some pages of the Sites, We provide online forms for the purposes of contacting us, registering for online services and establishing an account, subscribing to communications, registering for a training course or webinar, downloading information resources such as whitepapers, and engaging in promotional events or other purposes. Personal information collected may include name, phone number, mailing address and email address. We may also ask you to voluntarily provide us with information regarding your personal or professional interests, demographics, experience with our products, and contact preferences.

If you apply for a job with Us, we will request that you provide certain personal information (e.g., CV, education work experience, recommendations) to enable Us to evaluate your qualifications and suitability for the position.

Except as otherwise described in this policy, we do not collect any personal information from you on the Sites unless you provide it to us. For example, if you email us or answer questions we have placed on the Sites, you are voluntarily releasing that information to Us for use as set forth in this policy. Please do not submit personal information to Us if you do not want Us to have this information.  We also do not collect any sensitive personal information (e.g., social security numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, health, biometrics or genetic characteristics, criminal background or union membership).

CommunityCore and GovEasy Online Portals.  To access the CommunityCore and GovEasy online portals, Clients are asked to set up a Client Account and receive specific User IDs for the Client’s designated representatives to access the portal and services. Each authorized user will register under a User ID, establish a profile (name, organization, work phone number and email) and create an individual password. Users are requested to keep your User ID and password secure and not disclose them to a third party. The portal and services are intended to be used by professionals – government officials, contractors, attorneys, inspectors, among others – involved in the real estate, construction, management and building trades (collectively, “Clients”). Information available on the portal is pulled primarily from public databases and as may be supplemented by certain user-uploaded information (“Client Information”).  Be advised that We are not responsible for nor do We review, confirm or otherwise approve information from these public databases or what Client Information is uploaded.

Users are further advised not to include unnecessary personal information when uploading Customer Information unless, for example, such personal information may be required by a permitting or licensing entity or other governmental authority to obtain the requested permit or license.  To the extent possible, notice and permission should be obtained before submitting personal information belonging to third parties.

Users should assume that any and all uploaded Client Information, including any personal information, will be publicly available. (See our Terms of Use for more information.)  No financial or payment information is collected or processed when a user registers for the portal under a Client Account. If payment is enabled, such as to obtain a government permit, such payments are made through third-party payment processors. The collection and process of this information by the third-party payment processors is subject to their terms and policies. We do not have access to any financial information that you provide to any third-party payment processor.

PERFORMANCE AND TRACKING INFORMATION

We may track and record your interactions with our advertisements, our web sites, emails or other applications we provide using clickstream data and cookies. Clickstream data is a recording of what you click on while browsing the Sites. This data can tell Us the type of computer and browsing software you use and the address of the web site from which you linked to the Sites. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by a web site for the purpose of facilitating and enhancing your communication and interaction with that web site, such as remembering your preferences and collecting aggregate (i.e., not personal) information. Many web sites, including ours, use cookies for these purposes. For example, We use Google Analytics to help use measure the performance of the Sites and improve your online experience.  Our agreements with these service providers do not permit them to use the information collected on our behalf except to help us conduct and improve our business.

You may stop or restrict the placement of cookies on your computer or delete them from your browser by adjusting your web browser preferences and browser plug-in settings, in which case you may still use the Site, but it may interfere with some of its functionality.  If you wish to find out more about cookies, or how to refuse cookies for your browser, please visit the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s web site at www.allaboutcookies.org.

We may use the following types of cookies on the Sites:

  • “Required” or “Essential” cookies are necessary for the operation of the Sites.
  • “Functional” cookies enable the Sites to remember information a user has provided and personalized functionality.
  • “Analytics” cookies collect and analyze how the Sites are used, typically on an aggregate and anonymous basis.

We do not conduct targeted online advertising on the Sites or third-party websites.

Social Media.  When users connect to the Sites from a social media website, such as Facebook or LinkedIn, we collect the personal information you have provided to that particular social media website in accordance with the social media website’s privacy practices, and we add the information to your profile and to manage your account if any.

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use your personal information to understand your needs and provide better products and services, personalize your website experience, and tailor future communications.  Occasionally, We may use your personal information, such as an email address you have provided, to contact you for market research or to provide you with a marketing promotion or offer that may be of particular interest to you. However, you may opt-out of receiving these marketing or promotional messages at any time by contacting Us as provided below or clicking on the “Unsubscribe” function embedded in these messages. However, you cannot unsubscribe to transactional or administrative email messages about the status of your account, if any, or any product or service that you have requested.

We also may use information, including personal information, captured from emails received from clients and others to improve our marketing and sales efforts.

We will not use or share personal information provided to us online for purposes unrelated to the ones described in this policy without letting you know and offering you a choice.

HOW WE MAY SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may share the personal information you provide with other SAFEbuilt divisions or affiliates, provided that, such other divisions or affiliates have privacy practices that are no less robust than those set forth in this policy.

We may disclose your personal information to designated contractors and service providers We use to support our business and our Site, but they are only permitted to access and use personal information we provide in connection with services they are performing on our behalf and in accordance with their contractual obligations with Us. They are not authorized by SAFEbuilt to use your personal information for their own benefit or in ways inconsistent with the services they are providing to Us.  We do not sell, lease or otherwise provide any personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

We use third-party payment processors when, for example, you register for a training course or purchase any other product or service provided on the Sites.  Financial information you provide to a payment processor is subject to that third party’s terms and policies.  We do not have access to this information at any time.

We may disclose personal information to investigate suspected fraud, harassment, or other violations of any law, rule or regulation, or the terms or policies for the website.  In addition, SAFEbuilt may disclose personally identifiable information as required by law or legal process.

In the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, dissolution, reorganization, or acquisition of SAFEbuilt, or a business unit, personal information We have collected about you may be sold or otherwise transferred. However, this will only happen if the party acquiring the information agrees to use personal information in a manner that is substantially similar to the uses described in this policy.

We may, from time to time, offer surveys, contests, sweepstakes, or other promotions on the Sites. Participation is completely voluntary. Information requested for entry may include personal contact information such as your name, address, date of birth, phone number, email address, username, and similar details.

The Sites may contain links to other websites and services. This can include clicking “Learn More” to take you to the websites of various third-party retailers or service providers.  We do not control such third-party websites and services and are not responsible for their actions or privacy practices. The existence of a link on our Sites does not mean that we endorse or have vetted such third-party website or service. You are encouraged to carefully review the policies and practices of every website and service that you visit.

SECURITY; DATA RETENTION

SAFEbuilt has implemented reasonable and appropriate security measures steps to ensure the security of the personal and other information we collect on the Sites and the CommunityCore online portal. Any third-party service providers with whom We may share personal information are contractually obligated to implement security measures no less robust and comprehensive.

Users of the CommunityCore and GovEasy online portals are responsible for maintaining the strict confidentiality of their login information, especially your password.  It is recommended that you not share your login information with any other person.  You are responsible for any access to or use of the portal by you or any person or entity using your login information, whether or not such access or use has been authorized by or on behalf of you, and whether or not such person or entity is your employee or agent.  SAFEbuilt will not be responsible for a data breach that results from a lost or stolen login information.

Be advised that the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. and we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to the Sites or the CommunityCore or GovEasy online portals or that your personal information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner inconsistent with this policy.  Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.  We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Sites or CommunityCore online portal or associated services.

Any transactions conducted on the Sites will be encrypted using current SSL technology and will be managed by a third-party payment processor.  We will not have access to any payment or other financial information that you provide to a payment processor operating on our behalf.  The privacy policy of any third-party payment processor will govern how they treat any personal information you may provide to them.

Our CommunityCore and GovEasy applications require you to create an account in order to use the application and we retain personal information you provide to us through that use and this information may be incorporated into other applications that we use. We also require that you provide information such as your email address, name, phone number and location in order to access certain information on our Sites.  We retain your personal information as required by law or as otherwise necessary to provide our services you have requested and other services and information that we think may be of interest to you. If you ask us to delete your information, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to locate and delete your personal information. Be advised, however, that it may not be possible to delete all your information.  We also may retain certain information in our customer relations and management systems.

NON-CONFIDENTIAL

Except as described in our Terms of Use Terms of Use – SAFEbuilt, any communication or material you transmit to Us by email or otherwise, including any data, questions, comments, suggestions, or the like is, and will be treated as, non-confidential and nonproprietary. Except to the extent expressly covered by this policy, anything you transmit or post may be used by Us for any purpose, including but not limited to, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast and posting. You expressly agree that We are free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained in any communication you send to Us without compensation and for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to, developing, manufacturing and marketing products and services using such information. Furthermore, you confirm that any media files you submit to Us (e.g., pictures, videos, etc.) are your property and you have permission of anyone depicted in these files to transfer rights to SAFEbuilt.

DO NOT TRACK

We currently do not honor browser-based Do Not Track signals.

USERS IN CALIFORNIA

California “Shine The Light” – As provided by California Civil Code 1798.83, if you are a California resident, you have the right to receive (a) information identifying any third party company(ies) to whom we have disclosed your personal information to in the past year; and (b) a description of the categories of personal information disclosed. To obtain such information, please email your request to mail to:info@SAFEbuilt.com or https://safebuilt.com/about/contact with “California Privacy Rights Request” in the subject line.

Business and Professionals Code § 22581 — For California residents under the age of 18 and registered users, California law (Business and Professionals Code § 22581) provides that you can request the removal of content or information you posted on the Sites. Any such request should be sent to us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or https://safebuilt.com/about/contact along with a description of the posted content or other information to be removed. Be advised, however, that applicable law may not permit us to completely or comprehensively remove your deleted content or for other reasons as set forth in this California law.

California Consumer Privacy Act — For users located in California, SAFEbuilt has taken steps to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).  The CCPA provides California consumers with three rights regarding their personal information.

First, California consumers can opt out of the sale or sharing of their Personal Information. However, We do not sell or share your personal information.

Second, California consumers can request to know:

  • What specific pieces of information a business has collected about the consumer;
  • Categories of personal information it has collected about the consumer;
  • Categories of sources from which the personal information is collected;
  • Categories of personal information that the business sold or disclosed for a business purpose about the consumer;
  • Categories of third parties to whom the personal information was sold or disclosed for a business purpose; and
  • The business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling personal information.

Third, California consumers can request that a business delete personal information about the consumer that a business has collected from the consumer.

We have taken steps to comply with the CCPA regarding our collecting and processing of personal information of California consumers. Note, however, that We do not use personal information for automated decision making or profiling. The CCPA also prohibits covered businesses from providing discriminatory treatment to California consumers if they exercise their rights under the CCPA.

You may submit a request to know and/or delete what personal information We collect about you, what categories of personal information are provided to third parties, if any, to correct any inaccurate information or to request that We delete your personal information.  These requests may be submitted to Us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or via https://safebuilt.com/about/contact or via a toll-free telephone call at 866-977-4111. We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days. We must provide the requested information or delete your personal information within 45 days of receipt of your request, but we can use up to an additional 45 days if we let you know that additional time is needed. Authorized agents may also contact us where they are inquiring on behalf of a California Consumer.

In order to respond, We must verify that the person making the request is the person about whom we have collected their personal information. We may ask you to provide certain, limited personal information, such as your name and email address to verify and match your identity with our records and systems. If you have an account with us, we may ask that you verify your identity through our account authentication process. This is also to protect against fraud. We will not retain this personal information or use it for any other purpose. Also please be advised that We need to search our records and systems only for the preceding 12 months. There may be cases where we do not have any personal information about you, or we are not able to verify your identity for matching purposes. Deleting your personal information may result in the closing of your account and the inability to access the Services. However, you can always re-register at any time.

We will use commercially reasonable efforts to locate and confirm your personal information and respond to these requests.

USERS IN COLORADO, CONNECTICUT NEVADA, UTAH AND VIRGINIA

Colorado – Effective July 2023, the Colorado Privacy Act (“CPA”) provides Colorado consumers certain rights over the personal information. Similar to the CCPA, Colorado residents to access, obtain a copy, correct and delete their personal information. They may also opt out of targeted online advertising, the sale of their personal information or profiling. We will implement your request to the extent applicable.

Connecticut – Effective July 2023, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (“CDPA”) enables Connecticut residents to have a business confirm what personal information was collected about them, obtain a copy, correct and delete it. Connecticut residents also can op tout of processing for purpose of targeted online advertising, sale of their personal information and using it for automated decision making. Users in Connecticut may submit these requests to Us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or via https://safebuilt.com/about/contact or via a toll-free telephone call at 866-977-4111. We will implement your request to the extent applicable.

Nevada – Under the Nevada Privacy Act, website operators must provide Nevada consumers the ability to opt out of the sale of certain information that the website operator may collect about them. We do not sell your personal information to third parties as defined in Nevada law and will not do so in the future without providing you with notice and an opportunity to opt-out of such sale as required by law.

Utah – Effective December 2023, the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (“UCPA”) also grants to consumers in Utah rights of access to their personal information, delete their personal information, “port” their personal information to another business, and to opt out of the sale of their personal information and online targeted advertising. Users in Utah may submit these requests to Us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or via https://safebuilt.com/about/contact or via a toll-free telephone call at 866-977-4111. We will implement your request to the extent applicable.

Virginia – Virginia’s Consumer Data Protection Act (“CDPA”), effective January 1, 2022, provides similar rights to Virginia consumers regarding their collected personal information: confirmation of processing use of personal information, access to, correction of, deletion, portability of personal information and the right to opt out of processing for online targeted ads, sale of personal information and profiling. Users in Virginia may submit these requests to Us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or via https://safebuilt.com/about/contact or via a toll-free telephone call at 866-977-4111. We will implement your request to the extent applicable.

ACCESS TO AND CORRECTION OF INFORMATION / OPT-OUT

SAFEbuilt will maintain reasonable procedures for individuals to gain access to their personal information and preferences. If you wish for us to cease using your personal information and delete it from our list of active users, please contact us at info@SAFEbuilt.com or via this link https://safebuilt.com/about/contact and including sufficient details to enable Us to complete your request. We will process and honor such requests within a reasonable period of time after receipt.

Keep in mind, however, that there may be residual information that will remain within our databases, access logs and other records, which may or may not contain personal information. The residual information will not be used for commercial purposes, but we may retain and use it as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Google provides website visitors the ability to prevent their data from being used by Google Analytics. To opt out of Google Analytics, go to: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and download and install the browser add-on.

Our legal basis for collecting and using your personal information is (i) to do so with your consent; (ii) where we need the personal information for performance of a contract or requested service, or (iii) where the collection and use is in our or another’s legitimate interests and not overridden by your data protection interests or fundamental rights and freedoms. In some cases, we may also have a legal obligation to collect the personal information in question. If We collect your personal information with your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time. You understand and agree that We may collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process the personal information you provide even if you are located outside the United States.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. SAFEbuilt does not collect or maintain information on the Site from persons We know to be under age 13, and no part of our Sites are designed to attract anyone under age 13. Please do not communicate with or contact Us if you are under age 13.  If a child under the age of 13 has provided SAFEbuilt with their personal information, we ask that a parent or guardian of the child contact us using our Contact Us page to inform us of that fact. SAFEbuilt will use reasonable efforts to delete such information from our database.

LOCATED IN THE UNITED STATES

SAFEbuilt is located in the United States and the Sites are maintained in the United States.  Your personal and other information will be stored, processed and accessed in the United States.  You understand and agree that SAFEbuilt may collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process the personal information you provide as described in this Privacy Policy even if you are from an area outside the United States.  This Privacy Policy is governed by the data privacy laws of the United States, which laws may not as protective as such laws in other countries.

CHANGES TO PRIVACY POLICY

From time to time we may modify this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of any material change by sending a notice to the e-mail address you provided to us or by placing a prominent notice on our Sites. You can view the most recent version of the Privacy Policy at any time by clicking the “Privacy Policy” link at the bottom of each page on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after any modification indicates your agreement to the new terms and conditions.
