Course Delivery for Today’s Student
The community development industry requires you to understand and apply complex building codes. Yet with so many demands on your time, traditional classroom training isn’t always an option. SAFEbuilt Academy offers in-person, year-round courses across the country, in addition to on-demand or scheduled webinar training. Pick the delivery method and timing that works best for you. Flexibility in course offerings has never been this convenient.
Code courses range in price from $395 to $595, depending on the course and certification. Many municipalities and organizations may reimburse course tuition. Check with your organization for details. Wade’s service extends over 25 years in the building industry with positions including Inspection, Plan Review, Building Official, and Regional Director. His passion for educating his peers and community of the value of the Building Code is contagious; this has enabled him to serve on many committees including the ICC International Building code (over 10 years) and Residential Code Interpretation Committees. With certifications such as USAF Structural Technician, and Master Code Professional, Wade has used his experience, education, and training to developed and implement SAFEbuilt’s first comprehensive Code Academy and serves as the Chair for both SAFEbuilt’s Training and Safety Committees.
Tinika has honed her building department skills for more than ten years while holding customer service and permit technician positions. She shares her knowledge of local government building departments and ICC® codes and permit tech qualifications through her dynamic training courses. Tinika is an ICC® Preferred Education Provider.
As Deputy Building Official with SAFEbuilt in Atlanta, Andrew focuses on broadening the scope of his efficacy through his many different roles. He has held positions within local government as a Combination Building Inspector and Plans Examiner. Additionally, he has developed and written multiple classes while holding the position of Training Developer for the Building and Fire Code Academy. Andrew worked in the design world at Eggemeyer Associate Architect as a drafter for 4 years. Andrew holds 21 ICC Certifications, some of which include Certified Building Official (C.B.O.) and Master Code Professional (M.C.P). SAFEbuilt Academy proudly utilizes Andrew’s experience with our IBC, IRC, and Fire Courses.
Corey has a vast knowledge of the building code that springs from firsthand experience in construction, as a Senior draftsman, committing inspections, and serving as Building Official for the city of Vernal City, UT. With over 24 years in the building industry, Corey has had the opportunity to build relationships within his communities, pushing the purpose of promoting safety through code implementation. Corey currently serves as a Board member for the Utah Chapter International Code Council, and a committee member of the International Code Council. He is currently based out of Firestone, CO.
With several certifications on both the national and State of Florida level, Danny is passionate about code safety and brings this passion with him every day into the field. His expertise covers a vast range of areas with his contributions to SAFEbuilt Academy focused mainly in the International Mechanical Code and International Plumbing Code. Danny currently holds the position of Chief Building Official in the State of Florida. In this position, he leads a group of dedicated code enforcement professionals who share in his passion and understand the necessity for a high level of safety concern.
With over 11 years of experience springing from his passion for engineering, DA has served as a Structural Engineer, Project Manager, Building Inspector, and more. DA takes pride in his informed and comprehensive approach to plan review and sits on multiple boards and committees that pull from his expertise. He knows the Code and appreciates the proper steps to insure a building’s compliance and structural security. DA is currently based out of Wisconsin as a Regional Plan Review Operations Manager with SAFEbuilt. He proudly contributes to SAFEbuilt Academy, leading classes on the structural components of the IBC, IMC, and IPC.
Gary currently works for SAFEbuilt as the Chief Building Official in the city of Milton, GA. Gary’s expertise in residential and commercial construction draws from his 40 years of experience as a carpenter foreman, superintendent, project manager, FEMA disaster response official, Building Official and inspector, plans examiner, certified flood plain manager, planning and zoning official, and Development official. Gary continues to stay involved and serve with FEMA, having recently worked with FEMA as a floodplain specialist in 8 major flood events managing substantial damage assessments and NFIP regulations in the building environment. Gary brings his wealth of knowledge in Structural Engineering to SAFEbuilt Academy by assisting in our IBC, IMC, and IRC courses.
Dennis holds an Associate degree in Fire Protection Technology and has served as the former Fire Chief for the City of Fenton, Michigan. Over his 40 years of government experience, Dennis has become especially skilled in his ability to strategically plan the direction of community development programs. Certified by the Council of American Building Officials and the National Fire Protection Agency, Dennis shares his experience with peers when instructing seminars on Building, Fire, and Police standards across the country. SAFEbuilt academy is proud to be one of the training providers to best utilize his range of talents for the IBC, IMC, and Fire Courses.
CBO, MCP, CASP
Currently an Operations Manager in the California area, Brian has been in the Building Industry for almost 20 years and holds over 40 Building Industry Certifications both on the national level as well as in the State of California. Brian’s background in construction and code compliance is extensive. With certifications including the Master Code Professional and Certified Building Official, Brian has worked as a municipal Building Official as well as an educational Building Code instructor. He has facilitated code compliance facilities and municipal governments with the tools for plan reviews, inspections, and code administration. With his comprehensive understanding of the code, Brian continues to serve the community and is proud to bring his experience to SAFEbuilt Academy for our International Building Code and International Mechanical Code Courses.
